Panchayati
Raj and Women empowerment
A Tribal woman spends her whole life as a domestic woman
with veil before her face and lots of other similar social restrictions binding
her freedom and independent way of thinking. She has responsibilities both
productive and reproductive. Being illiterate and shy natured she is hesitant
to address even her most wanted need and aspiration. The society dominated
by the men folks, remains ignorant to her voice and seems to be utilizing
her as per wish. In such a dismal state there is immense need of sensitivity
and support for the development of our tribal women sisters.
MSS working area consists of Tribal dominated area with more than 80% of
the voters are under the SC/ST population. After the 73rd Amendment women's
got 33% reservation but due the illiteracy they are still suffering from
the lots of problem and dependency attitude. People are unaware about the
importance of PRIs. Thus to capacitate the lower level Panchayat representatives
and villagers about their rights and powers, MSS is involved in propagating
awareness regarding Panchayat Raj Act, through activities like quarterly
meetings of members & employees, training of panchayat members, Jagruk
Manch, coordination support at block level, seminars, March, rally, puppet
shows , etc ensuring participation of women in Ward Sabha and Gram Sabha.
MSS also conducts Panchayat Elections and Voter Awareness Camp (PEVAC) in
its working area. |
