Background
Mahan Seva sansthan is a registered society working for development of tribal community. In the year 1989, Mahan Seva Sansthan started its journey of development with a primary school at Kolyari, with time new issues came up and MSS continued diversification into different sectors affecting the quality of life of tribal community in remote village. During this period we have also underwent process of organization development and set norms for its future action plan. We have defined our mission, mission, objectives and strategies and time to time review also under taken for quality improvement and focus.

Our vision has helped us to be more focused and attentive towards “Women and children” the most vulnerable community in our society, specially in resource poor community. To achieve this vision our mission is promotion of “Community Based Organisations and their empowerment. All our actions and operations we measure with regards to these yardsticks. Following this, various village level groups are formed for participatory planning and implementation of various programs leading to development of village in general and women and child in particular.

With firm determination and discipline in the work, MSS has been able to successfully undertake several programs from the national and international agencies creating many milestones. It has developed itself into a well-managed team consisting of a unique blend of professional from community level experience and management graduates. Following pages gives detail stock of MSS its mandate, setup, area of operations, its programs and achievements so far and future action plan.

Our strategy
Based on experience of the decades, MSS believes that tribal area of the Aravali ranges needs defined short term as well as long term approaches for holistic development, piecemeal work will conclude no sustainable results. The efforts need to be started with family as a unit of development. The process of source creation and awareness must be undertaken simultaneously. In this direction MSS has taken participatory and people centered approach by motivating community to take on the roles and responsibilities for their own development. We follow following approaches.
• Organizing villagers into Village Development Committee and capacitating them for Development
• Apply principles of Participation in identification and prioritization of problems and also in identification of Development Programs
• Use regional and cluster approach in identification of solution to Issues in the area
• Collaborate with the institutions, community organizations and individuals with similar understandings and approaches.

Legal Status
MAHAN SEVA SANSTHAN has been established on 9th May 1989 and registered under Society Registration Act, 1958, no. 26/Udaipur/1991-92 dated 19.04.1992. It is also registered under article 12 (A) and 80 (G) of Income Tax Act 1961 for accepting donations with tax exemptions. It is registered under FCRA Act 1976 under article 6 (1) date 12th June 2000 wide number 125690060.

The Team
Slowly, MSS's has developed a team of dynamic grassroots leaders and management professional. Associated with each of the above interventions are the experts from the relevant fields who are capable of providing all necessary technical and policy guidelines and undertake large projects and consultancies
